What That Filter Looks Like in Practice
Wilbur is a Jack Russell Terrier. He's small, strong, opinionated, and has destroyed more toys than I'd like to admit. He has a short coat that doesn't need much, joints that will eventually need support, and a metabolism that requires treats to be treated seriously — not just as empty calories to throw at good behavior.
So when I'm evaluating a toy, I'm thinking about whether it'll last through Wilbur's particular brand of enthusiasm. When I look at supplements, I'm checking labels the way I'd read the back of my own vitamins. When I consider a coat, I'm thinking about whether the sizing actually works for a dog his shape, and whether the materials will hold up through a real winter.
That process takes time. It also means we say no to a lot.

There are a lot of pet products in the world. A genuinely overwhelming number. The internet has made it possible to sell anything to anyone, which means the signal-to-noise ratio for pet gear is terrible.
Best Friends General exists to do the filtering for you. To be the friend who's already done the research — who has the dog, has tried the things, has returned what didn't work and reordered what did.
That's not a marketing line. It's just what this actually is.
